Pick a picture, frame it inside the circle, choose a ring, and save a round PNG token with a see-through background for your virtual tabletop. It all happens in your browser: your picture is never uploaded.

How to make a token

  1. Press Choose a picture (or drop a file on the circle). Phone photos, drawings and screenshots all work.
  2. Drag the picture to move it and pinch, scroll or use the buttons to zoom. The picture always covers the whole circle, so no empty edge can sneak in.
  3. Pick a ring design, thickness and color. Add a name ribbon if you run several of the same monster.
  4. Pick a size and press Save PNG. Then add the file to your virtual tabletop the way you add any token image.

Your ring, color, size and name settings are remembered on this device for the next token, which makes a batch of matching monsters quick. The picture itself is not saved.

Your picture stays on your device

Many token makers send your picture to a server to process it. This one doesn't. The browser opens the file, draws it onto a canvas on this page and turns that canvas into the PNG you save. Nothing is uploaded, and the site has no storage to put it in. You can check: the page keeps working with your connection switched off once it has loaded.

Please use pictures you have the right to use: your own art, commissioned or bought art under its license, or images marked free to reuse.

Tips for tokens that read well on a map

  • Zoom in on the face or the upper body. At grid size, a whole-body picture becomes a smudge.
  • Give each side its own ring color: one color for the party, another for enemies, a third for neutral folk.
  • Use the dashed ring for things that are not quite there, like summoned creatures or illusions.
  • For large creatures, save at 1024 pixels so the token stays sharp when it covers four or more squares.

Questions

Is my picture uploaded anywhere?

No. The picture is read and drawn by your own browser, on your own device. There is no server step, no account and no copy kept by us. Close the page and it is gone.

Which size should I export?

Most virtual tabletops shrink or stretch a token image to fit the grid square, so any size works. 256 pixels keeps files small for a big batch of monsters, 512 is a good default, and 1024 stays sharp when players zoom right in or for large creatures.

Can I use it for D&D tokens?

Yes. The tokens are plain round PNG files with a transparent background, so they work with fifth edition games and any other tabletop roleplaying game on any virtual tabletop that accepts image tokens. Use art you made, bought or have permission to use.

Why is the outside of the token see-through?

The corners outside the ring are transparent, so the token sits cleanly on the map instead of showing a square box. If your picture has see-through parts too, tick "Fill behind the picture" to give it a solid backing.
